About the DALI BOX Broadcast

The DALI BOX Broadcast v2 units are Zennio gateways between KNX and DALI that send every command to all the ballasts of a channel at once^[1]. The 4CH v2 runs four independent DALI lines and the 6CH v2 six, with up to 64 ballasts each^[2][3]. It cannot address a single luminaire or a group: that is the job of addressable models such as the DALI BOX Interface 64 X2^[1].

Current caps the ballast count too: the manual allows 64 ballasts per line within 500 mA for all lines together^[1], and the Zennio 2026 catalogue puts the total at up to 250 ballasts per device^[4]. A line is guaranteed 125 mA on the 4CH v2 and 83 mA on the 6CH v2 and may take up to 150 mA within the device's guaranteed 500 mA^[2][3]. Lines must never be electrically connected^[3], and Zennio advises one ballast type per line^[1].

The gateway is a Single Master DALI-2 controller: only it sends commands, and DALI-2 input devices may not send events^[1]. It supports DT8 colour ballasts with HCL on each line and reads power and energy from DT51 ballasts^[3][1]. It detects replaced ballasts itself and monitors errors of all ballasts except multi-address ones^[2]. Each line has a manual dimming button and a status LED^[2]. Both models support KNX Data Secure^[2][3].
