About the RemoteBOX

The RemoteBOX (ZSYRBOX) is a Zennio DIN-rail module for controlling a KNX installation from a smartphone through the Zennio Remote app; the Zennio manual presents it as a solution for installations without a display^[1]. It takes 2 DIN units, connects over RJ45 10/100 Ethernet and supports KNX Data Secure^[2]. It has no KNX-IP interface for ETS: that function is only on the ZennIoT^[1].

Inside there are two microcontrollers, one for the bus and the application program, the other for the firmware and the peripherals^[1]. ETS downloads therefore work on bus power alone, but the module only operates with an external 24–29 V DC supply, drawing up to 42 mA at 24 V and 35 mA at 29 V^[1]^[2]. Of its four LEDs, the first three (synchronisation, IP, server) must be green to reach the module^[1].

The user gets up to 12 pages of 20 controls: indicators, switches, dimmers, shutters, climate, scenes, alarms, a chronothermostat and an energy monitor^[1]. It also acts as a Sonos gateway: up to four instances, one speaker or zone each, with the Sonos system on the same network and UPnP enabled on the router^[1]. The bundled basic remote control licence gives 100 controls, an additional one 240^[1]^[3]. ZenVoice needs its own licence^[2] and the remote control licence as well^[1].
