About the KCI

The KCI 4 S0 (ZRX-KCI4S0) is a Zennio interface that brings the readings of meters already in place into KNX: its four inputs take S0 pulse outputs to UNE-EN 62053-31^[1]. The meter may measure electricity, water or gas; per input you set the pulses per unit, and the interface derives energy and power, or volume and flow rate for water and gas^[2]. Meters with a dry-contact output or outside the S0 standard may also work, but Zennio advises testing them first^[1].

The inputs share a common wire in pairs, run at 6 V DC and accept pulses of at least 30 ms over cables up to 30 m long^[1]. Two CR2032 batteries keep the count going while the KNX bus is down, and LEDs and bus objects report a low or empty battery^[1]^[2]. On the bus it draws 12.5 mA at 29 V and occupies 2 DIN units^[1].

Each input has up to four registers, one total and three partial; there are power and flow alarms, on-request readings and 10 logic functions^[2]. By default every ETS download resets the registers; to carry the readings over, enable keeping the current values or set initial ones beforehand^[2]. Periodic registers need an external clock on the bus, and the KCI asks for the time every 15 minutes^[2].
