KIPI SC — Zennio KNX-IP Interface, KNX Secure

About the KIPI SC

The KIPI SC (ZSYKIPISC) is the Zennio KNX-IP interface: its 10/100 Ethernet port (RJ45) opens a KNX twisted-pair line to ETS over KNXnet/IP tunnelling[1]. Up to five connections run at once, for downloads and the group monitor[2]. It draws 16 mA at 29 V from the bus, needs no external supply, takes 2 DIN units and, per the datasheet, supports KNX Data Security[1].

Factory addresses are 15.15.255 for the interface and 15.15.250 to 15.15.254 for the tunnels. ETS can change them all: once the interface address is set, the five tunnelling addresses take consecutive values, and none may repeat another device's address[2]. If the interface has lost its IP settings and vanished from the network, a three-second press on IP Factory Reset brings back DHCP until the next download[2]. A static IP must be free and outside the router's DHCP range, or connections will run into problems[2].

When ETS programs the KIPI SC through the KIPI SC itself, Zennio advises downloading the individual address first and then the application program: a complete download restarts the interface, the ETS connection drops and the download is cancelled[2]. For parallel ETS downloads, each line is assigned its own interface; individual addresses cannot be downloaded that way, because ETS then uses the general connection rather than the line's interface[2].
