ZENNIO System: section overview
This section contains 16 models of system devices on which any Zennio KNX installation is built. Bus power supplies come in 160, 320, 640, 960 and 1280 mA ratings, all with an additional 29 VDC output and a 110–240 VAC input. The additional output shares current with the bus: IAUX + IBUS stays within the rating (the 160 mA model gives 160 mA on the bus and 250 mA in total). Topology is built with the Linecoupler — a 1-DIN-unit line, area and segment coupler with KNX Data Secure — and the IP Router, which joins lines over the LAN. For programming and diagnostics there are the KNX-USB interface SC and the KNX-IP interface KIPI SC with KNX Secure support. The section also holds the KNX bus cable and terminals, the ZMCoup RF 868 (TP–RF) media coupler and the 24–28 VDC 60 W power supply (ZPSAUX1) that Zennio recommends for AudioInRoom; ZennIoT is in the Remote control section. A specification starts with these devices: a power supply for each line, couplers per topology and an interface for ETS configuration.
Frequently asked questions
What is a KNX USB interface for?
It connects a laptop running ETS to the bus right at the distribution board: downloading addresses, parameters and application programs to devices, diagnosing the bus and monitoring data transfer. The KNX USB SC mounts on a DIN rail, is powered from the bus and USB and needs no external supply; its datasheet states Secure KNX communication without specifying the type of security. ETS may need the driver or the device database from the Zennio website to detect it, according to the KNX USB SC datasheet and manual. Over the LAN you need a KNX-IP interface: KIPI SC, ZennIoT or the one built into ALLinBOX.
Can the ZPSAUX1 supply power the KNX bus?
No. The ZPSAUX1 is an auxiliary 24 V DC source: it has only a mains input and a 24 V output, with no choked KNX bus output like the KUPSupply's. The bus is powered by a KNX power supply, and the KUPSupply datasheet forbids connecting the mains or any other external voltage to the bus and requires insulation between that voltage and the bus. The ZPSAUX1 powers devices with their own 24 V input: the AudioInRoom datasheet recommends it for that audio controller.
